Tom is currently the Managing Principal of Thomas H Walker Consultants, LLC, a firm that specializes in assisting private sector firms and government agencies in real estate and facilities related issues, primarily with GSA’s Public Buildings Service. In addition to Mr. Walker, the firm has a number of retired GSA personnel in various real estate related disciplines  to utilize as needed. Tom also does consulting on leadership and mentoring and speaks to university real estate and engineering groups on leadership issues.

Prior to Tom’s current position, he was a Senior Director for Opus Corporation, where he had a national responsibility for assisting Opus Operating Companies on both design and construction and project proposal and presentation development for government projects throughout all Opus regions.

Before retirement from the Federal Government in January 2006 Tom served as Regional Commissioner (RC) of the Southeast Sunbelt Region of the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) where he had responsibility for 560 employees, 125,000 tenants, and forty million square feet of leased and owned space in the Southeastern United States. During his tenure in Atlanta, the regional performance improved from 10th out of 11 Regions to 1st in the two years prior to his retirement against national GSA performance metrics. In addition to his position in Atlanta, Mr. Walker has held senior management posts for the GSA as a member of the Senior Executive Service since 1989 in the Heartland Region, the National Capitol Region and GSA Headquarters.

Prior to GSA, Tom worked for the Department of Defense where he held positions in facility management, operations, and engineering as a civilian with the U.S. Navy in Pensacola, FL; Subic Bay, the Philippines; San Bruno, CA; Exmouth, W. Australia; and Norfolk, VA in addition to his final DOD assignment where he had worldwide facilities management responsibility for the US Marine Corps.

Mr. Walker's educational background includes a Graduation from DOD's National Defense University, a MBA from the University of West Florida and a BS in Industrial Engineering from Mississippi State University, where he is a Distinguished Engineering Fellow and on the Bagley School of Engineering’s Advisory Council. Tom Walker has received the Senior Executive Service Presidential Rank Award from President Clinton, in addition to the President’s Award, Chairman’s Award, and Life Member Award from Building Owners and Managers Association.  Tom has an Active Top Secret Security Clearance.

Tom is married to Cindy Walker, and has four grown children and four grandchildren. In his free time he follows Mississippi State University sports, tinkers with his 1966 mustang GT convertible, deer hunts, travels, and plays a little golf.  He historically renovated a downtown office building for his work space and is on the City of Starkville Planning and Zoning Commission and Mississippi's State Electronic Protection Licensing Advisory Board.
